Breaking the silence for an exciting announcement

My dear friends, I don't think I can fully convey my excitement and joy, fear and overwhelm as I finally sit down to write this post. After dreaming and scheming for about a year, this new venture is dream is about to become a reality. I am starting a new venture: The Business Bar. My goal is to provide resources for small business owners to become more efficient and successful, allowing them to spend more time focusing on their passions - the reason they started their business in the first place.

When The Business Bar officially launches this Spring, it will be full of beautiful branding design, clarity finding worksheets, marketing materials and so much more - all made by myself and a group of insanely talented people that I'm honored to collaborate with.

You may remember, when I launched jordanbrantley.com one of my first posts was sharing an inspiration board for a new venture I was excited to start working on. Well, you guessed it, it was The Business Bar! My goal with my personal site was to have a "home base" for my design business and any future businesses that made it out of my head and into the world.

This past year has been one full of of change, growth and learning. I've considered my future and what I am really passionate about. Through working with some really amazing people I've discovered my deep passion for getting to know people, hearing their stories and helping them become successful in pursuing their passions. This, and collaborating with other creatives towards this goal is extremely live-giving to me and it is my dream to be able to spend my time doing just that.

Things are about to change a lot around here but for the better, I promise. Jordanbrantley.com will become strictly my personal website - a place where you can keep track of me, my life and the projects I am involved in. I will still keep up this blog which I am insanely excited about. I will also still have @jordanbrantley across social media.

My hope is that The Business Bar will be a scalable business that is open to collaboration and is not built around me, but the passionate business owners I hope to serve.

I'm sure you can understand the crazy array of emotions I am experiencing as I said at the beginning of this post. Today my dream, The Business Bar, is being shared with the world. Tomorrow I go to The Makers Summit in Greenville, South Carolina and will be officially introducing myself as the founder of The Business Bar and handing out my new shiny cards. Next week I will be wrapping up my last design projects before I dive into designing product, rallying collaborators, researching needs and building the website. In April I will be presenting my new business to thousands of people at One Spark, a crowd-funding festival in Jacksonville. Then The Business Bar will open it's online doors!

Dreams are terrifying. I can't wait to see how this one pans out.

You can follow the journey to opening day by subscribing to the newsletter on the website and following @thebusinessbar on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. ( as well as my personal accounts @jordanbrantley - I'll be posting behind the scenes peeks as well )

As always, thank you. Thank you all for your encouragement and support. But mostly, thank you for your passion - the passion that inspired me to start this in the first place.

Girls weekend in Maggie Valley, NC

I just got home from a fantastic weekend away with my girl friends in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. As usual, I made sure to sufficiently document the trip! If you follow me on Instagram sorry for taking over your feed - there was just so much beauty to share!

We got in late Thursday night ( or really early Friday morning! ) after getting lost on the mountain and a few near death experiences. Okay not really... but we were pretty scared a few times! Ha.

The other girls have been coming to Maggie Valley every year for quite a while so they had a list of must-do's. First up was Joey's Pancake House.

After brunch we made the short drive to Waynesville to admire the cute little town and do some shopping.

That evening we snuggled up by the fire for a cozy night in and were surprised by our friend who wasn't going to be able to come. It was the best surprise ever! Unfortunately I didn't have my camera ready to capture the terror on everyone's faces when we didn't know who was pounding on the doar outside in the thick fog at 11pm... or the joy and tears when we realized who it was!

Saturday morning we took breakfast to Lake Junaluska and a few of the girls ran around the lake twice. 5 MILES. I appointed myself photographer... good excuse to sit, right?

We headed to Asheville to meet up with another friend and watch Catching Fire. I felt like I ran 5 miles too after that movie - so intense and so good. I will definitely be reading all three books now.

After a little shopping we grabbed dinner at The Junction and then dessert at French Broad Chocolates. Both were amazing!

Before heading home on Sunday, we went back through Asheville and had lunch at Tupelo Honey Cafe.

I'm so thankful that I got to enjoy a relaxing weekend away right before the craziness of Thanksgiving and Christmas get here. It was a great time with sweet friends - I'm so blessed to have them.

PS. I just started a holiday board on Pinterest... do you have a place to collect good recipes and ideas for the holidays? Leave the link in the comments - I'd love to check it out!

I said goodbye to my long locks

So, yesterday was a pretty big day.  I cut off 18 inches and there's no going back now!

I toyed around with the idea of cutting my hair for quite a while. The reason mostly being convenience. My hair took hours to dry so getting ready and feeling put together quickly wasn't really an option. If I was in a rush I rocked the top knot and dealt with the literal headache it always brought.

When I started seriously considering it, I photoshopped my face on about 8 pictures of Carey Mulligan.

The past few weeks have been crazy busy and with the idea of chopping my hair in the back of my mind, the time it took to make my long hair look good annoyed me even more when I had so many other things on my to do list.

So two nights ago, I scheduled an appointment at a salon minutes away from our house and decided to just rip off the bandaid!jordan brantley | super long hair to pixie cut

I'm so thankful that my friend Amber wanted to take some before and after pictures! It was a great distraction from my nerves right before the appointment and I'm so glad I have these images.

I prepared myself and anyone who might be around me for the next few weeks to expect random breakdowns but I think the worst of the freak outs are over! I was insanely nervous leading up to the appointment and thought for sure there would be tears at some point during the day. Turns out I only teared up once because my hairdresser straightened my hair to make sure it was cut correctly and I saw Justin Bieber in the mirror when I got home. Hahah But, after a quick shower ( and way too much shampoo... I'll have to get used to that ) I was super excited to find out that I love the way my hair dries naturally with this cut! I'm so excited to see how much time I'm able to save!
